The Legislation which deals with considerations of the Court and sets
out the applications available in relation to divorce is The Matrimonial Causes Act 1973.
We follow The Family Law Protocol. This is a guide produced by The Solicitors Regulation Authority which sets out what solicitors need to think about
when dealing with a divorce to try and make the process as quick and easy as possible for the client.
The first step in getting a divorce is to prepare a Divorce Petition. The whole process can depend on many factors, including whether the person
receiving the papers agrees to the divorce or agrees to the grounds and how many issues there are to resolve. The
divorce becomes final when a Decree Absolute is pronounced that finally
dissolves the marriage.
