Probate

Put simply the term Probate refers to the dealing of a persons' affairs after they have passed away.  This can apply whether there is a Will or not.

We can take the strain at an already difficult time by dealing with the legal formalities involved on the death of a loved one.  This can include contacting banks, building societies, insurance companies, pension companies and the Department of Work and Pensions, dealing with the transfer of any property, ensuring that the collected assets go to the right beneficiaries and dealing with any outstanding tax liabilities, debts etc.

Contested Probate

If a person disputes a Will it is known as contested probate. This is highly specialised work and can involve complicated litigation. The first step is to establish the grounds on which the Will is disputed, it could be that the Will is argued to be invalid or that dependants or partners are not included in the Will which it is felt should have been.

Esther Rex specialises in both probate and contested probate and can be contacted on (0115) 9247 028 or by email on admin@campions.co.uk
